I've always said I wanted to blog. I keep an avid diary with my innermost secrets, so why not a public document that I could share with the world... You see, I've always lived a wild life. Not just random weird things happening in every day life, I'm talking stories like the time I dressed up as Hannah Montana and lip synced (lip sanc?) a kid's party, or that one time I went to medical camp and studied fetuses in jars but then ended up having 5 majors in college not related to pre-med.. I have so many stories I could go back on, but we are going to start from new. We will call this day one. Welcome to my blog, girl with no job. My current life is described by the four words in this title. I'm twenty-five years old and not afraid to admit that I am currently jobless. In my two years since college graduation I haven't really had good luck with jobs, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that I'm sitting in my $64 hammock I ordered from Amazon Prime talking about how hard my life is. I've had three full-time "career" jobs since I graduated and I've also moved a lot. Atlantic City, New York City, and now my lovely little townhouse in Philadelphia. Although I do miss the steady paycheck that I usually spent on UberEats and way too expensive bar tabs, I can say that I don't really miss my latest job. Sitting at home all day with my dog and binge watching crappy tv is a much better way to live your mid-twenties, let me tell you. But in my defense, I am not just totally lazy. I am a full-time graduate student, although the title makes it sound like I do more work than I do, I'll admit. But this blog isn't about my jobs (or lack of), or about my schooling (because this is where I would like to take breaks from writing 250 word responses to my 25 classmates while feigning interest about their exceptional children), but it is about sharing the incredible things that happen in my life.
I've been jobless since the first week of March. Now that the weather is finally getting nice, almost too nice, I've picked up my household chores. My roommates love when I don't work because I live like a stay-at-home mom. They come home to clean dishes, occasional laundry done, but most often I engage in some sort of household project. This week I tried my hand at gardening. I planted flowers, zucchini, and basil and so far have killed 33% of my new plants. Let's hope I'm better at blogging than I was at gardening. My only goal for this blog is to stick with it. As anyone who knows me well knows, I have slight commitment issues when it comes to certain things, like keeping up with recurring activities or taking medication regularly. I would like to blame that on ADD, but my mom likes to blame it on screen dependency. Either way, my brain just can't focus to commit to something long-term. Hopefully that isn't the case for a future relationship, but I wouldn't know that since I've been single for 5 years now, but that's a story for another day. So let's begin, the story of my life, the things that happen to me, the wild stories that I wish I could make up, but I don't. It's just mal, the girl with no job.
